CSX Railroad Chooses the Flagship Technologies Rail*AMS System

Apollo, PA, March 8, 2004

Lasse V. Syversen, President of Flagship Technologies, a Bloksberg Inc company based in Maryland and with a development and operations center in Apollo, PA, announced today that CSX Technology, Inc. has signed an agreement to use Flagship's RAIL*AMS Service. RAIL*AMS enables businesses to exchange business data electronically with both the US Customs and Canadian Customs Automated Manifest Systems for the purpose of clearing cargo moving between the US and Canada by Rail.

CSX, the parent company of CSX Technology, operates the largest rail network in the eastern United States. CSX provides rail freight transportation over a network of more than 23,000 route miles in 23 states, the District of Columbia and two Canadian provinces. CSX headquarters are in Jacksonville, Fla.

CSX Corporation continues to add efficiency to its operations by using Flagship’s RAIL*AMS system. Eddie Chesser, Supervisor of IT services, in discussing CSX’s decision to use RAIL*AMS stated that he expects RAIL*AMS to provide an efficient, predictable, and easy to use way for CSX to file data to US Customs and Border Protection thus enhancing the free flow of cargo across the border.

RAIL*AMS is based on proven technology backed by experienced professionals with a long history of providing fast, efficient, reliable software to the transportation industry. Using RAIL*AMS will eliminate the costs associated with the manual preparation and submission of paper manifests, and result in faster clearance minimizing expensive delays at the border. RAIL*AMS is designed to integrate easily with the rail carriers existing documentation systems eliminating the need to re-key data for submission to Customs and is available on Flagship’s Virtual Host Service, or as licensed product for operation on the carrier’s servers.

In making the announcement, Mr. Syversen noted that CSX has demonstrated forward thinking in their efforts to reduce paper based manifest submissions and further improve the speed of cargo clearance at the border.
